Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

The 3D Materials Lab, based at the Colorado School of Mines and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, invites applications for a fully-funded postdoc position. We use computational tools, including first-principles methods and machine learning, to discover and design functional materials for thermoelectrics, photovoltaics, solid-state batteries, ferroelectrics etc.

We have an opening for a postdoctoral fellow, starting immediately. The starting date is negotiable. We have several projects in the general area of data-driven materials discovery, defect properties of functional materials, and alloy modeling. The specific project(s) may be chosen based on the interests and career goals of the applicant. Depending on the project, the PD fellow will have the opportunity to collaborate with experimental and computational groups at other U.S.-based and international institutions. Initial appointments will be for one year with the possibility for additional years of support provided adequate progress on the project.

Desired qualifications: (1) PhD in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields. (2) Prior experience with first-principles computational methods and/or data informatics, including machine learning, deep learning etc. (3) Experience with Python programming, (4) Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills that will facilitate the research dissemination and interdisciplinary collaborations with multiple teams. We welcome both domestic and international applicants. The position will remain open until filled.

To apply: Please send your CV and a brief description of your research interests to Prashun Gorai ([email protected]). If you've an external fellowship, please mention the name and time period of the fellowship.
