Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

Applications are invited for a 1-year (renewable) postdoc position in computational physics at Institute of Nanoscience, National Research Council of Italy (Modena, Italy):

The project aims at unveiling ultrafast fundamental mechanisms leading to the equilibrium and non-equilibrium physics of two-dimensional materials (semiconductors, metals, and topological materials). The overall activities involve experimental and theoretical Italian partners with strong international visibility. The work relative to this position will be carried out mainly in collaboration with Dr. Carlo Andrea Rozzi and Dr. Stefano Pittalis.

Suitable candidates should have extensive experience with electronic structure calculations, including geometry optimizations and determination of optical properties. Additional experience with core-valence excitations and/or with simulations of ultrafast processes by means of real-time TDDFT will be an advantage. Familiarity with Python and FORTRAN programming languages is also desirable. Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken, are essential. For a particularly experienced candidate, a salary upgrade above the national average for a postdoc may be considered.

Interested applicants should send a letter of motivation and a CV including a list of contacts for reference letters to [email protected]

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted by mid-November 2019.
