We invite applications for a 4-year postdoc position as IT-coordinator within the newly established collaborative research centre (CRC1585 - MultiTrans) at the University of Bayreuth.
The subproject aims to digitalise and automate the research documentation processes by customising the university’s electronic laboratory notebook (ELN), SciNote@UBT. Thus, the overarching purpose is to maximize the captured research data's short – and long-term usability and to optimise the data intake process.

Job-specific tasks:

• Conception and technical realisation of further developments of the university’s ELN
• Implementation of additional application software and programming of necessary modules and interfaces to the wider research data management infrastructure
• Interfacing with the groups of the CRC to define metadata specifications and formulate and implement the data input heuristics to the ELN
• Training sessions and workshops for the researchers

Job-specific profile:

• Doctoral degree in computer science or a comparable field (physics, mathematics, chemistry, etc.)
• Very good programming skills in object-oriented programming and scripting (Ruby on Rails), experience with JavaScript and Python is welcome
• Very good knowledge of data structures and databases (SQL)
• Experience with implementing interfaces (via REST API) is welcome
• Experience with metadata standards and mapping is welcome
• Experience in material sciences is welcome
