The recently established "Data-based Materials Modeling" group at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) is looking for a postdoc on the topic "interpretable artificial intelligence".

The postdoc will perform cutting-edge methodological research in interpretable artificial intelligence, applied to active learning / experiment design. Tight collaboration with the experimental groups at the Materials Science and Engineering Department at FAU is envisaged.

The ideal candidate should have have a strong background in atomistic modeling, preferably at the ab initio level, and in machine-learning method development.

The position is initially for 1 year, extensible to 3 years. The starting date is April 2024.

In the application, besides the CV, please include a short concept (up to 1 page) on how to combine interpretable AI with active learning / experiment design.
