Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

Project description
The postdoctoral fellowships will focus on:

  • Electronic structure calculations combined with machine learning techniques for accelerated/autonomous discovery of clean energy materials, e.g. novel electrocatalysts for sustainable production of fuels and chemicals and next-generation battery materials.
  • Mechanistic analysis and the development of coupled kinetic-transport models of electrochemical processes for the sustainable production of fuels and chemicals
  • The development of a fundamental understanding of the theory of heterogeneous catalysis and electro-catalysis chemical processes at the gas-solid and liquid-solid interface.

Qualifications
The candidate should hold a PhD or equivalent degree in chemistry, physics, materials science or a similar field. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in at least one of the following topics:

  • Quantum chemical modelling of catalysis
  • Machine learning approaches to materials discovery
  • Continuum modelling of electrochemical interfaces

Moreover, the successful candidate:

  • is innovative and able to work in cross-disciplinary teams
  • has good communication skills in English, both written and spoken
  • is able to work independently and take responsibility for progress and quality of projects.

Assessment
