A postdoc position is available at the Division of Theoretical Physics of the Rudjer Boskovic Institute in Zagreb, Croatia, to work on the research project "Extending length and time scales of first principles material modeling via machine learning."

The appointment is for two years. The preferred starting date is before the end of the year (but can be negotiated).

The candidate has to have experience in density functional theory and/or machine learning for materials.
In the case of an excellent candidate, there will be an opportunity for a permanent (assistant professor level) position at the institute.

Rudjer Boskovic Institute is the largest and most international institute in Croatia (>1000 employees) covering all natural sciences.
At the Division of Theoretical Physics, almost 50% of the employees are foreigners.

The Gross monthly salary is approx 2000€. After taxes, pension, and health insurance (including dental coverage), the net is around 1200€ (without family benefits). Good quality of life can be maintained as Croatia offers a relatively low cost of living (the median net salary in Croatia is 840€).

Constraints:
- PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, and related
- Maximum 10 years from the start of PhD (excluding parental leave and work outside of science)
- Maximum 4 years as a postdoc before this call
- PhD diploma has to be attached (PhD students near graduation cannot be considered)
- A selected candidate who earned her/his higher educational qualifications outside Croatia will have to make the recognition of a foreign diploma before the start of the contract
