Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a 3-4 week delay between posts being submitted and emails being sent to the mailing list. Please bear with us while we try to improve this.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

The Group of Condensed Matter and Complex Systems in the Theoretical Division of Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) has an immediate opening of a postdoctoral position in the area of computational condensed matter and materials physics. The postdoc will work on applying first-principles DFT, Green’s function, and high-throughput methods for discovering novel two-dimensional magnets composed of rare earth elements. The goals of these efforts are to (i) provide fundamental insight into the delicate interplay between dimensionality, local f-states, and magnetism in real correlated materials, and (ii) accelerate the development of next-generation microelectronics. Successful applicants will have an opportunity to interact with a dynamic team of condensed matter theory and experiment scientists at Los Alamos National Laboratory.

Candidates should have strong skills in first-principles density functional theory simulations of strongly correlated electronic materials and experience with high-throughput workflows for material discovery and/or beyond-DFT methods (e.g., RPA, GW, LDA+DMFT), along with an excellent publication record. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. Interested candidates are encouraged to apply online through the link https://lanl.jobs using the job identification number IRC116650, where detailed information and requirements on the postdoctoral position are available. Further inquiries can be addressed to Dr. Christopher Lane (email: [email protected]).
