Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

We have postdoc and staff scientist positions available in computational electrochemistry at Laboratory of AI for Electrochemistry (AI4EC Lab), Tan Kah Kee Innovation Laboratory (IKKEM), Xiamen, China.

We are specifically looking for the candidates with the background in computational electrochemistry, to develop computational algorithms, achieve realistic simulations of electrochemical interfaces and systems, and address computational method issues in electrochemical energy storage and electrocatalysis.

AI4EC Lab has recently established with joint efforts by Tan Kah Kee Innovation Laboratory (IKKEM) led by CAS academician Prof. Zhong-Qun Tian and AI for Science Institute (AISI) led by CAS academician Prof. Weinan E. It combines the strength of IKKEM and Xiamen University on electrochemistry and the advantage of AISI on practice of AI for Science, with the aim of pushing the limits of the current computational and experimental approaches to address the challenges in electrochemical science and engineering.

The AI4EC Lab is assembling interdisciplinary research teams, and looking for highly motivated and talented individuals to fill a number of positions ranging from junior postdocs to staff scientists at senior level.

Requirements:

  1. Hold a doctoral degree, with a preference for an educational background in physics, chemistry, or related fields, and possess a strong sense of responsibility and initiative.
  2. Familiar with the fundamental principles of electrochemistry, have a strong background in electronic structure theory, molecular dynamics, and related computational methods.
  3. Proficient in simulating electrochemical interfaces or related systems with the latest development of computational approaches such as constant potential methods, finite electric field methods, machine learning potentials etc.
  4. Understand theories and frameworks related to machine learning/deep learning.
  5. Have excellent programming skills, with proficiency in one of the languages such as C/C++, Fortran, Python, and others.
