Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

A Postdoc position in statistical mechanics / machine learning / materials science and a PhD in inverse materials design - metallic glasses

The postdoc is located at NOMATEN CoE (Warsaw, Poland). We are focusing in understanding, predicting, and designing the properties of complex metallic glasses (arXiv:2309.05806). The tools range from computer simulations to statistical mechanics to machine learning. An eventual collaboration with experiment is foreseen. We are in particular interested in the application of machine learning techniques in understanding and prediction and we are developing a number of approaches including a hand-shake with Density Functional Theory methods.

Interested candidates are requested to contact Mikko Alava (@ncbj.gov.pl) or Anshul Parmar (@ncbj.gov.pl). The application DL is June 1st and the position is initially for one year with the possibility of extension.

The official ad is at https://euraxess.ec.europa.eu/jobs/213824.

Related to the same project there is a PhD position open in a collaboration with Aalto University, where we apply inverse methods and statistical mechanics for materials design. Please contact Mikko Alava (@aalto.fi).
