Post-Doctoral Position in Quantum Chemistry for ... (No replies)
Back to Job listings...
ICFO is offering a postdoctoral position to a well-qualified, highly motivated, and dynamic young scientists who wish to enhance her/his scientific career in a friendly and stimulating environment.
The successful candidate will be joining the Nanophotonics Theory Group led byProf. Javier García de Abajo. The group has extensive theoretical experience in the fields of Nanophotonics, Electron Microscopy, and Quantum Physics, combining elements of Condensed-Matter Theory, Quantum Chemistry, Quantum Optics, Atomic Physics, and Advanced Electromagnetism to predict and explain fundamentally new physical phenomena. More information and full access to recent publications by the host group can be obtained as http://www.nanophotonics.es/This project is part of the Advanced ERC Grant e-Nanoheld by the group leader.
Eligibility and Conditions
Candidates must hold an internationally recognized PhD degree (or evidence of its completion in the nearest future) based on theoretical work, preferably in the areas of Condensed-Matter Physics, Quantum Chemistry, Materials Science, or Atomic Collisions. Experience in the fields of Plasmonics, Electron Microscopy, Surface Science, and/or Atomic Collisions will be valued, although it is not a prerequisite for this position.
We seek a highly-motivated candidate with theoretical experience in first principles simulations of molecular systems and nanomaterials. The candidate should have a proven track record in the computational study of the structural and optical properties of different materials and/or molecular systems using ab initio methods. The use of different calculation schemes (DFT and post-DFT for structural simulations, and TDDFT and Bethe-Salpeter for the optical response) will be highly valued. The candidate should be familiarized with state-of-the-art techniques and codes in order to carry out such calculations for selected solid surfaces, nanowires, and molecular systems, as well as combinations of these elements. The work carried out by the candidate will be part of a high-impact research project to incorporate detailed atomic insight into the optical response of different nanomaterials, as well as their interactions with free electron beams. Further details of the project will be discussed during an interview.
No restrictions of citizenship apply to the ICFO post-doctoral contracts.
The contract is offered for periods of one year, renewable for a total of up to 3 years.
Application procedure
The formal application should be submitted by mail to Prof. Javier García de Abajo at [email protected]
Suitable candidates are requested to submit:
- Presentation letter with a declaration of interest,
- Curriculum Vitae, including contact details,
- The contact e-mail of two potential referees.
Candidates should be willing to be contacted by phone during the selection process.
Deadlines
