Post-doctoral position is available at the Physics Department of the University of Cagliari on the elucidation of key molecular determinants enabling antimicrobial compounds (both peptides and antibiotics) to effectively cross the membrane barrier of bacteria, to be investigated by molecular modeling techniques.
The project represents a continuation of previous research in the field of microbial resistance, within the "INF-ACT" project funded through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR).
The fellow will work in a stimulating and dynamic environment, collaborating with other fellows already on the project, and (s)he will have access to modern workstations and a local and powerful GPU cluster, as well as to funding to attend scientific schools and conferences. Physics-based and machine-learning methods will be employed for research within the project. Furthermore, the research will be conducted in an international setting, involving local collaborators as well as the Universities of Catania (Italy), Frankfurt (Germany), Marseille (France), and Southampton (UK).
Our Department is hosted in Cagliari, a beautiful city in the South Sardinia, recently top ranked in Italy for quality of life.
