A fully funded 2-year post-doc position is available in the Computational Electronic Structure Theory (https://www.aalto.fi/en/department-of-applied-physics/computational-electronic-structure-theory-cest) group of Prof. Patrick Rinke at Aalto University in Helsinki, Finland. In this position, you will have a chance to make an impact on atmospheric science by applying tools from artificial intelligence (AI). You will develop and implement machine learning approaches to manage the combinatorial complexity of molecular chemistry and molecular clustering behaviour. The project is part of the recently founded Centre of Excellence in Atmospheric Science VILMA and you will collaborate with experimentalists, theoreticians and computer scientists.

We welcome candidates with a PhD in computational physics or chemistry or computer science who are curious about applied machine learning in natural sciences. Prior machine learning experience is required for this position. We seek colleagues who enjoy coding, scripting and analytics, and are keen to push the boundaries of machine learning and AI. This project requires creative thinking and programming, as well as technical expertise in machine learning and a broad understanding of computational science and molecular chemistry.
