One postdoc position is available in the group of Dr. Valentina Tozzini at CNR-Nano in Pisa, Italy

The post-doc fellow will study graphene deformed by means of external inhomogeneous, non-uniform, multi-axial stress fields, with various space patterns and intensities, by means of ab initio (Density functional theory based) methods and classical molecular dynamics based on empirical force fields (to extend the space scale of simulations). The aim is characterizing the local geometry and electronic structure and possible related properties, such as the reactivity towards addictions or substitutions, and the possible pseudo-magnetic fields. The patterns and intensities of the stress fields will be provided or indicated by the experimental counterpart of this project, aimed at realizing and characterizing samples with engineered strain by means of suspended graphene on polymeric substrates.
