Postdoctoral Research Associate in High Pressure Physics
College of Science and Engineering
As part of the ERC-funded HECATE initiative to study hydrogen and related materials at extreme conditions, we seek to hire a PDRA to CSEC at Edinburgh.
We seek an outstanding candidate with computational or theoretical experience in one, or several, of the following areas:
Electronic structure calculation, using density functional theory or Quantum Monte Carlo
Molecular dynamics and Path Integral Molecular Dynamics Free energy calculation
Theory of Raman and infrared spectroscopy.

The project is led by Prof Graeme Ackland and the appointed PDRA will be supervised by Prof Ackland and Prof Eugene Gregoryanz, with assistance from Drs John Loveday, Andreas Hermann and Miguel Martinez-Canales.
The PDRA is expected to collaborate closely with more junior researchers working on similar topics, in particular at the interface between theory with experiment. There are currently three other PDRAs in Hecate (Miriam Pena-Alvarez, Miriam Marques, Hongxiang Zong) and the group has typically 8-12 PhD and Masters students.
This is a fixed term 3.5 years' post with an anticipated start date in March 2018.
