A postdoctoral position is available in the group of Prof. Caterina Cocchi (Physics Department, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin) to work on the preparatory project “Real-Time Description of Light-Matter Interaction in Hybrid Inorganic/Organic Systems” within the Collaborative Research Center (CRC) “Hybrid Inorganic/Organic Systems for Opto-Electronics (HIOS)” financed by the German Research Foundation (DFG). The CRC represents an excellent context for research, promoting exchanges and collaborations between theoretical and experimental partner groups. Specific initiatives are dedicated to make the working environment gender- and family-friendly.

The ideal candidate is an excellent and motivated young scientist holding a PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, or related disciplines. Her/His consolidated experience with first-principles methods is proven by a robust publication record of studies preferably in the field of electronic and optical properties of solid-state materials and nanostructures. Candidates who have worked with time-dependent density-functional theory and/or many-body perturbation theory (GW and the Bethe-Salpeter equation) in the field of theoretical spectroscopy are strongly encouraged to apply. Motivated candidates with consolidated experience in theory but not (yet) in first-principles methods are anyway welcome to apply. Good knowledge of scientific programming languages is requested, along with excellent oral and written communication skills in English.

For any further information you may visit the group’s website https://www.physik.hu-berlin.de/en/eos and contact Prof. Caterina Cocchi ([email protected]).

How to apply: Please send to Prof. Caterina Cocchi ([email protected]) your full CV, your list of publications and conference contributions, the contacts of at least two references, and a motivation letter (maximum 1 page) including your statement of research and a convincing explanation of your interest in the offered position.

The position is available from January 2018 until June 2019. An extension is possible upon available funding. Evaluation of the applications will start immediately.
