Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

We are inviting applications for a post-doc position to work with Jorge Íñiguez at the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST).

The research will be on ferroelectric-based nano-structured materials displaying "negative capacitance" and "voltage amplification" effects that, beyond being exotic and surprising, are of great current interest for the development of low-power electronics. The work will involve the use of novel "second-principles" methods that allow large-scale simulations of complex dynamical phenomena with near-first-principles accuracy. You can learn more about our research and recent publications here (general), and particularly here (negative capacitance).

The project also involves the experimental team led by Pavlo Zubko at University College London and the London Centre for Nanotechnology.

The position is in principle for 3 years. Work should start in early 2019.

Eligible candidates must have a strong background in physics or materials science, and solid experience in atomistic simulations.

Interested candidates are welcome to contact Jorge Íñiguez ([email protected]). Please send a complete CV and as much information as you deem useful.
