Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

Fully funded 4 year PhD position, based at Strathclyde (Glasgow, UK) with visits to the National Physical Laboratory (London).

This theoretical project will investigate the operation of a novel single-electron device developed by NPL, that may be capable of transducing electron quantum properties into photonic states. The student will work closely with experimentalists at NPL to determine operating conditions to optimise the state mapping process during electron-hole recombination.

A background in quantum information or condensed matter/solid state physics is preferred. Experience in computational and numerical methods would be beneficial.

Eligibility

A minimum of an upper second-class UK honours degree or equivalent in Physics or a closely related subject is required. If English is not your first language, you must have an IELTS score of at least 6.5 with no component below 5.5.
