PhD student position: THEORY AND SIMULATION TOOL ... (No replies)
Back to Job listings...
A PhD student position (3 years) is available in the group of Prof. Mads Brandbyge at the Dept. of Micro and Nanotechnology, DTU, and involves collaboration with several external partners. The topic is within theory/simulation of non-equilibrium transport and current-driven atomic dynamics in nano-scale conductors.
The preferred starting date is end 2016/early 2017.
The aim of the project is to understand processes taking place at high voltage or current bias in molecular electronics and ballistic devices based on novel 2D materials. In the project we will develop and use atomistic quantum transport theory and accompanying computer tools to model quantum transport experiments. The main methodology will be based on density functional theory and non-equilibrium Greens functions. The project will be carried out in an international collaboration with leading theoretical and experimental groups.
The applicant should be highly motivated and hold a masters degree preferably within condensed-matter theory or quantum chemistry. Good command of analytical calculations, written and spoken English, and experience with programming and numerical calculations, are required.
We offer a stimulating environment encompassing theoretical groups both at DTU (http://www.nanotech.dtu.dk and http://www.cng.dtu.dk), and Nanoscience Center (Copenhagen University, http://www.nano.ku.dk), as well as good contact to experimental groups in Denmark and abroad.
The salary and appointment terms are negotiated in accordance with the current collective agreement for Danish University faculty members.
Applications should be submitted online no later than 15 October 2016 at http://www.career.dtu.dk
