Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…
Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.
In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

The Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM) is a materials research organization in Germany. Our mission is to ensure safety in technology and chemistry. We perform research and testing in materials science, materials engineering and chemistry to improve the safety of products and processes. At BAM we do research that matters. Our work covers a broad array of topics in the focus areas of energy, infrastructure, environment, materials, and analytical sciences.
We are looking for talented people to join us.
The aim of the project „Combining physics- and data-based models for 3D concrete printing – process optimization and safety assessment“ is to develop a digital twin for extrusion-based 3D printing. For that, a numerical model of printed concrete covering the time dependent material behavior (hydration, thixotropy, plasticity, as well as instabilities like buckling) will be derived and implemented in the OpenSource Software FEniCS. The virtual model will be calibrated and verified in automatic and reproducible manner by measurement data. Joining the virtual model with the real process will lead to a framework for optimization regarding the design’s safety and robustness.
The project is a cooperation between division 7.7 “Modelling and Simulation”, 7.4 “Technology of Construction Materials” and S.3 “eScience” of BAM as well as the TU Eindhoven, where the PhD takes place.
