Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…
Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.
In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

PhD student in cellulose-based sustainable sprayed green electronics
Limited: 3 years | Starting date: earliest possible | ID: FSDO030/2021 | Deadline: open | Full‑time/Part‑time
DESY, with its more than 2700 employees at its two locations in Hamburg and Zeuthen, is one of the world's leading research centres. Its research focuses on decoding the structure and function of matter, from the smallest particles of the universe to the building blocks of life. In this way, DESY contributes to solving the major questions and urgent challenges facing science, society and industry. With its ultramodern research infrastructure, its interdisciplinary research platforms and its international networks, DESY offers a highly attractive working environment in the fields of science, technology and administration as well as for the education of highly qualified young scientists.
Green electronics are a challenge for a future sustainable society. We are addressing the quest for novel materials. This includes suitable biomaterials and bio-derived colloids as well as their processing, avoiding fossil-based sources. During fabrication of green electronics, green solvents will play a major role. In view of circular economy, reuse of materials is a crucial issue. In this PhD thesis, you will thus investigate the use and interplay of cellulose, water-based polymers and green solvents in close collaboration with KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, and TU München. Spray deposition as a scalable and facile technology will be the fabrication method of choice. You will investigate the fabrication of cellulose-based sustainable sprayed green electronics. You will evaluate the influence of cycling on their optoelectronic properties and the long-term stability of green electronics using sustainable materials. As PhD student, you will be stationed at DESY and enrolled at TU München.
