The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is seeking a PhD student to work on projects related to computational design of civil engineering materials, physical and chemical processes in cementitious systems, and novel applications of functional materials.
The student will conduct atomistic/nanoscale simulations to support multidisciplinary collaborations. Candidates with experiences in simulations techniques such as density functional theory calculations, ab initio or classical molecular dynamics, Monte Carlo methods, etc. are preferred, although self-motivated students with track-records of academic achievements are encouraged to apply regardless. However, solid background in materials science and physical chemistry, as well as some experiences in engineering programming (e.g., Matlab or python), are required.
Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. The selected candidate will receive financial support for stipend, full tuition and benefits. Interested students please send (1) a brief cover letter, (2) a CV, (3) contact information of at least 2 references, (4) a copy of recent publication (if applicable) or other supporting documents, in a single PDF file to Dr. Bu Wang ([email protected]).
