Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

PhD Student and Post-doctoral Researcher Positions at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (USA)

Several PhD student and post-doctoral researcher positions are available in the Kanai research group at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC). The group’s activities are primarily focused on the development and application of first-principles electronic structure methods to condensed matter systems. Our recent method development efforts have centered on (1) all-electron GW/BSE and real-time TDDFT (RT-TDDFT) based on numerical atomic orbitals within FHI-aims code and (2) RT-TDDFT with the planewave-pseudopotential formalism within Qb@ll and INQ codes.

See https://www.kanai-group.org/ for recent publications and research topics

The students may pursue a Ph.D. degree either in Physical Chemistry or in Condensed Matter Physics, depending on their educational background. Apply through

Department of Chemistry

University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC) is the oldest public university in the US, and it offers an exciting and vibrant research community environment. Chapel Hill, North Carolina, is part of the culturally diverse region, Research Triangle, anchored by three world-class research universities (University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Duke University, and North Carolina State University) surrounding high-tech and pharmaceutical companies in Research Triangle Park.

Motivated PhD student candidates are invited to send

- Brief research background statement

- Academic transcript

- CV

to Prof. Yosuke Kanai ([email protected]) with the subject line “PHD” or “PD”.
