Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a 3-4 week delay between posts being submitted and emails being sent to the mailing list. Please bear with us while we try to improve this.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

PhD scholarship in Computational Spectroscopy of ... (No replies)

Jógvan Magnus Haugaard Olsen

A 3-year PhD scholarship in computational spectroscopy of biomolecular systems is available at DTU Chemistry under the supervision of Assistant Professor Jógvan Magnus Haugaard Olsen. The position is funded through a Villum Young Investigator grant. Starting date is 1 January 2022 (or according to mutual agreement).

The PhD project will focus on the development of computational methodology that will make it possible to simulate a wide range of spectroscopic techniques applied to large and complex biomolecular systems, such as proteins, cell membranes, and nucleic acids. The methodology will be based on quantum-classical embedding methods aimed at electronic-structure calculations of spectroscopic properties.

Responsibilities and qualifications
The PhD project involves theoretical derivations of methodology and its implementation in computer code. You will also apply the methods to relevant biochemical and biophysical problems. Candidates with a background in theoretical and computational chemistry are preferred and programming skills (e.g., Fortran/C/C++ and Python) are highly desirable.

Apart from the scientific project, the PhD programme also consists of course work corresponding to 30 ECTS, teaching and dissemination activities corresponding to approximately 3 months, and an external research stay.

You must have a two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to a two-year master's degree.

Further information
Further information may be found in the job posting or by contacting Jógvan Magnus Haugaard Olsen ([email protected]). The application deadline is 15 September 2021 (Danish time).
