Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

PhD Research Fellowship Position within the area "Oxide electronics" at NTNU, Trondheim, Norway

https://www.jobbnorge.no/en/available-jobs/job/158895/phd-research-fellowship-position-within-the-area-oxide-electronics

The position will be within the area ”Oxide electronics”, with emphasis on density functional theory modelling of non-isotructural functional interfaces and how such interfaces can establish functional properties, in collaboration with the Department of Materials Science and Engineering.

The PhD positions is for up to 4 years with 25% work assignments for NTNU/Department of Electronic Systems.

Application deadline: 11.11.2018 Only application submitted through the website linked to above will be considered.

Job description

The project will focus on density functional theory modelling of functional interfaces of non-isostructural thin films, and how epitaxy and choice of materials can be used to establish functional properties. We are especially interested in establishing how such eutactic interfaces can form and be tailored to control antiferromagnetic properties. The project will be carried out in the oxide electronics group focusing on thin film physics of ferroic materials, complementing ongoing experimental research carried out in the group, in close collaboration with the Functional Materials and Materials Chemistry Research Group at Department of Materials Science and Engineering.
