Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

PhD Positions in Theory of Quantum Transport at University of Warwick

Fully-funded PhD studentships are available in the Device Modelling Group at University of Warwick and will cover university fees at the UK students rate, a maintenance allowance and research training support.

We are looking for enthusiastic students with a first-class or 2.1 honours degree (BSc or MSc) in physical science or engineering disciplines and a strong interest in multi-scale materials modelling.

In the device modelling group, we exploit the electrical, vibrational, magnetic and optical properties of nanoscale structures to discover new materials and devices for nanoelectronic applications, such as energy harvesting and cooling of low power consumer electronic devices, molecular switches and transistors, sensors, spintronics, piezoelectrics and optoelectronics. The candidate will receive a broad training on computational materials modelling from first principles, will gain experience with the cutting-edge quantum transport simulation methods, will conduct a vibrant research project with high publication potential and will have the opportunity to collaborate with internationally leading experimental groups in the UK, Europe and beyond.

To apply, please send a single PDF document including your full curriculum vitae and GPAs, a list of all publications and contact information for two references by email to Dr. Hatef Sadeghi ([email protected]).
