As part of the Finnish Quantum Doctoral Pilot Program (QDOC), at the University of Jyväskylä, we have six PhD positions available in theoretical and computational quantum materials physics and chemistry. (Also other, quantum-information related and experimental projects are available.)

Depending a little on the project, we are seeking candidates with theory background, especially in quantum mechanics and statistical physics; background in the application and/or development of quantum chemistry methods for modelling materials; or background in both general quantum physics and educational sciences. We expect the applicant to have a Master's level degree in the field relevant to the project and a high proficiency in spoken and written English.

The project descriptions can be found on our website:

We offer fixed-term doctoral researcher positions of three years starting on 1 August 2024 or 1 January 2025. The QDOC program has close connections with the Finnish and international quantum technology companies and therefore a successful PhD in the field will open many doors, both inside academia and in the industry.

Apply between 14 March 2024 and 7 April 2024:
