Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

PhD positions are currently available on computational and experimental projects.

Our structured, three-year doctoral programme, conducted entirely in English, takes an intensive interdisciplinary approach and brings together scientists from across the globe in the Rhine-Ruhr metropolitan region of Germany. Partner institutes of the IMPRS-SurMat are the Max-Planck-Institut für Eisenforschung in Duesseldorf, the Max-Planck-Institut für Kohlenforschung in Muelheim, the Max-Planck-Institut für Chemische Energiekonversion in Muelheim, the Ruhr-Universität Bochum, the Universität Duisburg-Essen and the Technische Universität Dortmund.

The research focuses on materials-related questions motivated by energy conversion, including, e. g., photovoltaics, electrochemistry, structural materials. High performance computational facilities are available, as well as cutting edge surface and interface analytical techniques within the laboratories associated to the IMPRS-SurMat and excellent opportunities for collaborations.

Students holding an excellent master's degree in chemistry, physics, materials science, mechanical engineering or related subjects are invited to apply. The school offers funding, the application of students with own funding is also welcome.

Please apply online: https://surmat.mpie.de

Closing date for applications is August 31st 2018.
