Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

Ph.D. position in Theoretical Chemistry

Georg-August-Universität Göttingen, Germany

A fully funded Ph.D. position for three years is available in the group of Professor Jörg Behler, Theoretical Chemistry, Georg-August-Universität Göttingen, Germany (http://www.theochem.uni-goettingen.de). The position is part of the new Research Training Group RTG 2455 "Benchmark experiments for numerical quantum chemistry" (https://www.uni-goettingen.de/en/587836.html) funded by the German Science Foundation.

The project involves the development of efficient and accurate interatomic potentials based on electronic structure calculations and machine learning techniques. The project will be carried out in close collaboration with experimental groups in Göttingen.

The University of Göttingen is one of the leading research universities in Germany offering an exciting interdisciplinary environment and excellent facilities including several high-performance computing clusters on site.

Interested candidates should hold a M.Sc. in chemistry, physics or a related field and should be highly motivated to develop state-of-the-art simulation tools for challenging applications in the field of atomistic simulations. Strong backgrounds in electronic structure theory (DFT) and molecular dynamics, familiarity with Linux as well as experience in programming (e.g. Fortran, Python, C++) are advantageous. Excellent communication skills in English are mandatory. German language skills are advantageous but not essential.

Please upload your application documents via the official website of the university. A link can be found at https://www.uni-goettingen.de/en/587987.html (project T2).
