Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

We are glad to announce a PhD position open in Modena, Italy, on “Simulating ultrafast coherent phenomena in model light-harvesting complexes". The program is part of the new European network MUSIQ, a European Marie Curie project on “Multiphoton Microscopy and Ultrafast Spectroscopy: Imaging meets Quantum".

The research will aim at developing a microscopic understanding of the ultrafast charge separation process in model light-harvesting systems, representative of selected experimental samples of interest in biology or photovoltaics. The project will include first principles modeling of the excitations and the simulation of two dimensional electron spectroscopies in collaboration with the experimental partners of MUSIQ. For additional information pls contact Elisa Molinari or Filippo Troiani.

The position is part of the PhD School in Physics and Nanosciences at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Italy. Deadline for applications: June 20, 2019 at 13:00 CET. Guidelines for applications are available here, see in particular the 'reserved place' section (p. 42). The grant is for 3 years, with annual amount in the approx range 39 - 41 kEuro.  The competition is open to candidates who on 20 June 2019 are in possession of a Master degree. Eligibility criteria for the Marie Curie program include that the candidate must not have stayed in Italy for more than 12 months in the previous 3 years, regardless of nationality. For additional requirements see here.
