Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

A PhD position is available at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics in Budapest, Hungary. We are looking for a PhD student for a project focusing on the theoretical investigation of magnet-superconductor hybrid systems. The research involves the study of Yu-Shiba-Rusinov states created in the vicinity of magnetic impurities on superconducting surfaces, the interactions between them, their interplay with the magnetic configuration, as well as their dynamics. The investigations tie in with the fundamentals of topological quantum computing on the atomic scale. Further information on the topic is available at https://phd.physics.bme.hu/node/4597?language=en.

Applications from young motivated researchers interested in the field of theoretical nanomagnetism and superconductivity are welcome. Experience in nanoscale or superconducting spintronics and computational modelling will be considered an advantage. Interested applicants should send their CV and motivation letter to Dr. Levente Rózsa ([email protected]) until the 31st of December 2022. The project is anticipated to start in February 2023.
