Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

We are inviting applications for a position in the area of multiscale modeling of magnetic materials at the Technical University Darmstadt from 1 July, 2019 onwards for the duration of three years. The position is in the Research Group Theory of Magnetic Materials of the Institute of Material Science and is sponsored by the German-American Fulbright Commission.

We are looking for a motivated candidate with expertise in magnetic materials. The scientific focus of the position is (but not limited to)

(1) high throughput design of novel magnetic materials;

(2) materials informatics for magnetic materials;

(3) multiscale modeling of coercivity

The candidate will work on challenging problems in the field of implementing an integrated paradigm to design magnetic materials via multi-scale simulations. In cooperation with our affiliated experimental and theoretical partners these should have an impact on future industrial applications. Please refer to our website for recent publications https://www.mawi.tu-darmstadt.de/tmm

Required education and skills:

  • Master in a relevant area of functional materials such as Physics, Mathematics, Material Science, or Chemistry.
  • Practical experience in density functional theory calculations, machine learning, or molecular dynamics are desirable.
  • Proficiency in Linux and Python.
  • Excellent communication skills, full command of the English language (oral and written); knowledge of German is an advantage.

TU Darmstadt is internationally oriented and committed to excellence. Foreign applicants are explicitly invited to apply. The University offers generous terms and conditions of employment, a wide range of benefits, services, facilities and family friendly policies. Full details are available on the Human Resources web pages accessible at http://www.tu-darmstadt.de/karriere_planen/arbeitgeberin_tu/index.de.jsp.
