Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

A 3 years PhD position is available immediately at the Université de Lorraine and the Universität Wien to investigate DNA photosensitization. The work is part of a collaborative project (co-tutelle) between Leticia Gonzalez (Universität Wien), Antonio Monari (Univerité Paris-Cité), and Jean Christophe Tremblay (Université de Lorraine) and it is funded by Lorraine Université d’Excellence (LUE). The chosen candidate will spend half the time in France and in Austria.

The position will focus on the simulation of photoinduced dynamics in DNA through excitation of environmental sensitive chromophores, such as palmatine, or Trojan horses nucleaobases. The multiscale treatment of such processes will be achieved through state-hopping dynamics simulations, where inclusion of environmental effects will be described using the hybrid-QM/MM methodology implemented in the SHARC code.

Highly-motivated candidates who have a Master’s degree in theoretical chemistry, chemical physics or a related field are encouraged to contact one of us via email ([email protected], [email protected], [email protected]) for informal enquiries. In order to apply, please send a CV, motivation letter, transcript of degree certificates and grades, as well as the contact details of at least two referees to [email protected].

The position is open until a suitable candidate has been selected.
