Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

PhD project at DIPC in San Sebastián

The doctoral fellowship programme INPhINIT ”la Caixa” is aimed at supporting the best scientific talent and fostering innovative and high-quality research in Spain and Portugal by recruiting outstanding international students – of any nationality- and offering them an attractive and competitive environment for conducting research of excellence.

DIPC (Donostia International Physics Center) is a host organization of INPhINIT and offers several stimulating PhD research projects, one of them to be developed under the supervision of Aran Garcia-Lekue and Daniel Sanchez-Portal. Our project will focus on the theoretical description of the electronic and magnetic properties of graphene nanostructures and other covalent molecular networks on different substrates.

You can find more info here (by selecting "DIPC" as research centre): https://hosts.lacaixafellowships.org/finder#1.

The title of our project is: "Theory of the topological, electronic and magnetic properties of graphene nanostructures synthesized by on-surface chemistry".

Note: one of the application requirements is that the candidates must not have resided or have carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Spain for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the call deadline. Thus, this call is perfect for recently (or soon-to-be) graduated students from outside Spain.

Important dates:

  • Deadline for submitting applications: 4 February 2020.

  • Incorporation at DIPC: between September and November 2020.
