Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

The 3SR laboratory at Grenoble Alpes University in France is currently seeking applications for a fully-funded PhD position for a period of three years.

The project aims to develop a multiscale model of Calcium Silicate Hydrates (C-S-H) informed by the physics of dehydration and structural features from the nanoscale using QM/MM simulations. The effect of chemical composition on the thermal-induced response of C-S-H will be investigated considering a variable stoichiometry and different atomic configurations based on experimental data. The interactions between C-S-H atoms will be defined using reactive force field formalism with a reparamaterization that reproduces the particles dynamics within and between C-S-H sheets at high temperatures.

Candidates should have a strong background in materials science, computational chemistry, or a related field, and should hold a master's degree or equivalent. Experience with DFT calculations, reactive force fields, or molecular dynamics simulations is desirable, but not required. Candidates should also have strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

To apply for this exciting PhD position, please submit a cover letter, CV and transcripts to [email protected]

The application deadline is April 20th, and interviews will be conducted at the end of April/beginning of May 2023. For more information about the position, please visit the 3SR laboratory website or contact Dr. Majdouline LAANAIYA.

For more detailed information about the PhD project, including the specific research objectives, methodologies, and expected outcomes, please refer to the attached file. This document provides a comprehensive overview of the project and will help candidates to better understand the scope and requirements of the position.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a world-class research team and to contribute to cutting-edge research in the field of materials science and geomechanics. We look forward to receiving your application!
