A PhD position is available in the university of Lille1 (France) in the field of modeling and simulation in geomaterials. The work will focus on the application of modeling and simulation methods (ab initio and / or molecular dynamics and Monte Carlo) to understand and analyze various mechanisms and process in geomaterials (including minerals, clays..). The candidate must have a solid knowledge of crystallography, classical and quantum mechanics as well as a good knowledge of computer language. Previous experience on ab initio or molecular dynamics is desirable. Knowledge of the broad field of civil engineering materials is an advantage but not a requirement.

The candidate will prepare his/her three years PhD thesis in the Laboratory of Civil Engineering and geo-environment (LGCgE) in the geomaterials group led by Professor Zaoui.
