Hierarchical Phonon Scattering by Multiscale Nanostructures in Oxide Thermoelectric Materials
There is an open PhD position in the Mechanical Engineering Department of Shiv Nadar University, Greater Noida, India (https://mech.snu.edu.in/). The candidate will be working on the simulation of anharmonic phonon scattering in ZnO introduced by multiscale defects such as, dopants, grain boundaries and nanoinclusions. Molecular dynamics simulation will be used along with the lattice dynamics to understand the anharmonic phonon dispersion curves and relaxation times to understand the phonon scattering in nanostructured ZnO.
The candidate should have a master degree in Physics or materials science. Knowledge of force field based simulation methods and C/C++/python programming will be advantageous.
