The MMCI research team at the Institut Lumière Materière, Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1, is offering a

PhD Position in Computational Nanoscience

The targeted research activities comprise method development in the field of time-dependent density functional theory with applications in energy conversion materials, dye-sensitized solar cells, and organic/inorganic interfaces.

The successful candidate holds a Master in either physics, chemistry or material science and is expected to develop his/her own research profile in an interdisciplinary environment. A profound knowledge of theoretical physics or quantum chemistry together with the ability to transform analytical results into efficient computer codes is a desired qualification. Basic programming skills (Fortran, Bash, Python) and the ability to communicate in English both in written and oral form are required.

This 3 year PhD Fellowship is fully funded under the Chaire d'excellence du labex iMUST and is available from January 2016. The thesis will be carried out under the supervision of Prof. Thomas Niehaus. The place of work is Lyon, France, a historical city listed as UNESCO world heritage with rich student life.
