PhD Position in Computational Biophysics at the University of Augsburg

We are offering a PhD position to a highly motivated and dynamic young scientists who wishes to pursue her/his scientific career in a stimulating scientific environment. Successful candidates will join the research group of Prof. Nadine Schwierz as PhD Student in Computational Biophysics (75% TV-L E13). The research in the group of Prof. Schwierz addresses the description of biological systems with computer simulations. The research aims to resolve essential biological processes at the molecular level and to unravel the underlying physical principles. Examples include the folding and function of RNA, the role of metal ions in biological systems or the formation of amyloid fibrils.

Areas of responsibility
- MD, coarse-grained or QM/MM simulations of biological systems
- Application of enhanced sampling techniques and methods of machine learning
- Comparison of simulation results with experiments
- Teaching exercises in Physics/Biophysics

Job requirements
- Graduation in Physics, Biophysics of Biochemistry
