Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

A computational research group is seeking PhD candidates to conduct research in the field of solar energy conversion. The position is open in the group of Prof. Maytal Caspary-Toroker from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology. The candidate should have completed a PhD in the field of computational chemistry, materials, or physics and has experience with electronic structure methods.

The main objective of the project is the R&D on innovative technologies for the generation of clean, efficient energy from renewable sources. Its research directions include biomass generation, solar water splitting technology as well as CO2 reduction, and the exploration of how molecular building blocks such as H2, CO, CO2, methanol and ethanol can be converted into larger, liquid fuel molecules. It is an important step towards the development of alternative fuels and reducing global dependence on oil.
