The goal of our research programme is to develop more sophisticated one-matrix functional approximation by resorting to tools from convex analysis and quantum information theory.

The latter provide excellent prospects for fixing various fundamental flaws of state-of-the-art functionals, such as the violation of elementary geometric principles related to the N-representability problem.
