The Materials Theory Group at ETH Zurich has an opening for a PhD student with an expected starting time-frame of Summer/Fall 2020.

The focus of this PhD project will be to adopt the DFT+DMFT approach for the study of materials with strong coupling between electronic and structural degrees of freedom, with the goal of enabling both qualitative as well as quantitative predictions about the resulting emergent properties.

The ideal candidate has:

  • A Master degree in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, or a closely-related field (required)
  • Previous exposure to quantum mechanical many-body theory
  • Experience in python programming
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • Strong personal motivation
  • Is keen to work in a diverse international research team
