A PhD position is available in the Theoretical spectroscopy group at the Ecole Polytechnique in Palaiseau, France (see: https://etsf.polytechnique.fr/) under the supervision of Matteo Gatti and Lucia Reining. The expected starting date is October 2023.
The PhD project will deal with the interpretation and prediction of genuine electronic correlation signatures such as satellites in photoemission spectroscopy. It will investigate materials both in their ground state and in excited states induced by ultrafast laser pulses. It will make use and develop theoretical and numerical methods based on state-of-the-art Green's function theory [1].
This PhD position is financed by the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) and is part of a collaborative project involving experimental colleagues from the Ecole Polytechnique and the CNR-IOM lab in Trieste (Italy).
We look for highly motivated candidates with a Master degree in Physics (or similar disciplines) and with a strong background in condensed matter physics or materials science. A good knowledge of written and spoken English is essential to communicate with our external collaborators. Basic knowledge of Linux will be appreciated.
Interested applicants should send a letter of motivation, a CV, an official academic transcript of Master, and the contact information of one or two references to Matteo Gatti ([email protected]).
The review of applications begins immediately.
Applications are accepted until the position is filled.
