I am looking for an exceptional individual who would be interested in a 4-year PhD position in the soon to be established Emmy Noether group – Theoretical Transport Physics – in the Department of Physics at Humboldt University of Berlin. The researcher will work under my supervision to push the boundaries of ab initio methodologies for treating the self-consistent coupled transport of electrons and phonons. The ideal starting date for the position would be July 1, 2024. Primary tasks include:

- Developing theory and scientific software
- Carrying out ab initio calculations on HPC clusters
- Supporting collaborations with partner experimental/theory groups
- Writing a doctoral dissertation

The candidate must have

- a Master’s degree (or Bachelor’s degree for the Fast Track option) in physics or a related field
- full professional proficiency in English

In addition, it is desirable that the candidate has

- a strong interest in theoretical/computational solid state physics
- experience in scientific software development in a language like Fortran 2018, C, or Julia
- familiarity with the elphbolt code

If you are an ideal candidate for this position, get in touch with me at [email protected] with your CV.

Sincerely,

Dr. Nakib H. Protik
