The Department of Computational Materials Design at the Max Planck Institute for Iron Research in Düsseldorf (Germany) invites applications for a
PhD or postdoctoral research position on ab-initio simulations of high entropy alloy - water interfaces
The focus of the project will be on the description and investigation of electrochemical reactions on compositionally complex solid solution surfaces. The project is funded by the German Research Foundation (Sfb 1625) and aims at the atomic-scale understanding and design of multifunctional surfaces.
Ability to work effectively in a dynamic team, good communication skills and motivation to interact with our internal and external collaborators within the Sfb are highly desirable. The MPIE offers excellent working conditions in terms of computational resources, access to literature and strong collaborations with the world's leading groups in the field. The appointment will be for a period of 3 years with a salary according to the German salary scale for the public sector (TVÖD E13).
Candidates must have a master of Ph.D. degree in physics, chemistry or a related field and experience in electronic structure calculations. Expertise in one or more of the following areas is desirable: electrochemistry, chemically complex alloys, statistical mechanics or machine learning. Interested candidates should send a letter of application, curriculum vitae, list of publications, and contact information for at least two references to Prof. Jörg Neugebauer.
Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. The MPIE values diversity and is committed to equal opportunities.
The Max-Planck-Institut für Eisenforschung GmbH is committed to employing more handicapped individuals and especially encourages them to apply. The Max Planck Society strives for gender and diversity equality. We welcome applications from all backgrounds.
