Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a 3-4 week delay between posts being submitted and emails being sent to the mailing list. Please bear with us while we try to improve this.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

A fully funded (50 % E13 TV-L) Ph.D. position in Theoretical Chemistry is immediately available in the group of Professor Jörg Behler at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen, Germany.

The project in the field of theoretical surface science involves the development of novel efficient and accurate interatomic potentials based on electronic structure calculations (DFT) and machine learning techniques. The potentials will be applied to large-scale state-of-the-art molecular dynamics and Monte Carlo simulations of complex chemical processes at interfaces, in particular but not exclusively at solid-liquid interfaces. The project will be carried out in close collaboration with experimental groups in Göttingen.

The University of Göttingen is one of the leading research universities in Germany offering an exciting interdisciplinary environment and excellent facilities including several high-performance computing clusters on site.

Interested candidates should hold a M.Sc. in chemistry, physics or a related field and should be highly motivated to develop state-of-the-art simulation tools for challenging applications in the field of atomistic simulations.
Strong backgrounds in electronic structure theory (DFT) and molecular dynamics, familiarity with Linux as well as experience in Fortran programming are advantageous but not essential. Excellent communication skills in English are mandatory. German language skills are advantageous but not essential.

Please send your application including a CV, a motivation letter, copies of university certificates (BSc and MSc, in German or English) and contact addresses of two academic references preferably by email as pdf to
