Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

The National Institute for Scientific Research (INRS) is a graduate research institute composed of four research and teaching centers located in different cities (Montreal, Laval, Varennes and Quebec). INRS plays a key role in the advancement of scientific knowledge and the training of highly qualified workers in strategic sectors of research, both in Quebec and in the rest of the world. Every year, INRS welcomes close to 700 students (40% master's and 60% doctorates). About 50% of its students are women. Every year, it welcomes about 100 postdoctoral fellows. As of 2016, INRS awarded more than 2,813 degrees. INRS is open to the world: with 58% of its students are foreign nationals from forty countries including France, Morocco, Tunisia, Italy, Germany, India, China, Vietnam, and Mexico. INRS is a part of

About the team:  https://insilicomatters.com/
You will be applying to the Insilico Matters Laboratory which is a group of researchers working under the leadership of Dr. Kulbir K Ghuman. See website for more details.

About the project: The successful applicant will work on an exciting research program that has the potential to push sustainable energy technologies beyond their current limits. This program will specifically focus on designing efficient and affordable materials for sustainable catalysis and/or fuel cell applications by manipulating inevitable disorder present in materials. This critical research problem will be tackled with the aid of advanced modeling techniques (capable of analyzing materials from nano- to electronic- scales and under practical conditions), interdisciplinary approach, and experimental collaborations. The person appointed will work as part of a newly established interdisciplinary team focused on developing novel energy materials and will have access to world-class computational facilities and collaborations.

Who should apply: 1. Applicant should have a degree (M.Sc.) in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, or Computational modelling. Applicants with exceptional performance in bachelor’s in engineering in material science will also be encouraged to apply.
2. Must have experience (preferably published work) in academic research and scientific writing.
3. Must be fluent in English (orally as well as in written). Fluency in French would be appreciated.
4. He/She should be able to work independently as well as with a team in a competitive environment with expectations of high-quality work and tight deadlines.
5. Have some experience or working knowledge in machine learning, DFT or meta-dynamics

Two positions. Starting in Jan and April 2021.

If you feel that you satisfy the above mentioned requirements, please send the following to the HR Coordinator at [email protected]

  1. Transcript from your undergrad and masters degree
  2. One page writing sample about your research interests and how they are aligned with IML research objectives
  3. Your resume
  4. Two letters of references
