PhD at King's College London in precision methods for correlated electrons and unconventional superconductivity
The aim of this project in the group Evgeny Kozik at King's is to develop novel computational techniques for predicting properties of correlated electrons with known and controlled error bars, and apply these tools to the longstanding problem of unconventional and high-temperature superconductivity. These methods will be based on the diagrammatic Monte Carlo framework – a range of tools and ideas for describing strong and long-range correlations using stochastic summation of the Feynman diagrammatic series to high order directly in the thermodynamic limit – which has shown promise to make significant progress in this technologically important problem.
This project will be supported by a postdoctoral research associate and will offer an opportunity of a close collaboration with the experiment group of Dr Clifford Hicks (Birmingham) and the theory group of Prof Joseph Betouras (Loughborough).
Applicants should have a background in and enthusiasm for quantum many-body theory, programming and numerical modelling skills, and be keen to work in a team based in central London at King's College London. Experience in either Green’s function based methods or studies of superconductivity is desired.
UK (home) students are eligible to apply, and exceptional overseas candidates will also be considered for a funding uplift to cover overseas fees.
