Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

One PhD and one postdoc position are available at the Molecular Transport group in Prague to work on machine learning and single molecule electron transport. The group is part of the Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences. The PhD candidate will also enroll in the doctoral program at a Czech university. The postdoc position is fully funded by a research grant and can be extended up to 3 years (until the end of 2025) upon mutual agreement.

The project aims to use ML to identify structure-property relationships in electronic structure and conductance of single molecule junctions. Ideal candidates will have experience in at least one of these fields: machine learning methods, electronic structure of molecular junctions, molecular conductance calculations.

Applicants will collaborate with a PhD student and a postdoc in the group. The postdoc candidate needs to be able to work independently, and will ideally see this as an opportunity to develop a research program and also implement his/her ideas in the field of machine learning and single molecule studies.

We offer a dynamic working and scientific environment, regular participation in international conferences and regular collaboration with experimental groups. Several times a year there are bonuses based on performance and productivity. There are housing options via the Academy of Sciences.

Applicants should send the following material (pdf):
• Motivation letter for the position, describing the candidate’s experience.
• CV and publication list.
• Contact details of two references.

Consideration of candidates will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. Informal inquiries are welcome at [email protected]
