Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

Fully funded PhD and MSc positions in computational materials engineering are available in the group of Prof. Milica Todorović at the University of Turku, Finland. In these positions, students will develop and implement advanced machine learning protocols into active learning software tools for materials exploration and optimisation. Our objective is to combine multiple channels of information in materials science datasets for more powerful machine learning, and through this, accelerate scientific discovery and materials design.

We welcome candidates with a background in physics, chemistry, materials science or computer science who are curious about applied machine learning in natural sciences. Prior coding and machine learning experience is a bonus, but not a must. We seek colleagues who enjoy coding, scripting and analytics, and are keen to push the boundaries of computational materials design. This project requires creative thinking and programming and a broad understanding of electronic phenomena in organic and inorganic materials.

More information on the positions and application guidelines are available for the Doctoral candidate (4 year funding) and the MSc candidate (6 months funding). The application deadline is 16.08.2021.
