As of 2015, New York University Shanghai (NYU Shanghai) offers a global Ph.D
graduate program in physics. The application for this program is via the
standard graduate school application of NYU, where you select "Shanghai track".
Students in the Shanghai track spend one year at NYU in New York for
course work before joining NYU Shanghai full time to work on their Ph.D.
thesis research. While in NYU Shanghai, students maintain close ties
with New York and receive an NYU Ph.D. degree in Physics.
This year we have multiple Ph.D openings in physics program. One particular
focus is computational condensed matter physics and materials science.
The successful applicant will work in the group of Professor Hanghui Chen
(http://physics.as.nyu.edu/object/HanghuiChen.html).
The research of the group bridges condensed matter
physics and materials science by performing state-of-the-art
first-principles calculations to understand fundamental physics (such as
magnetism and superconductivity) as well as to search for novel
functional properties (for example, multiferroics).
